Our last morning in Churchill was spent of course eating breakfast and then off to curling. You know the sport for charwomen. Well let me tell you it is quite a workout. I felt as if I had been lifting weights and doing a bunch of sit-ups. It really worked the old core muscles running and balancing and sweeping the ice. It was lots and lots of fun. I am going to try to find and join a curling team in DC. Perhaps I will make the next Olympic team. After curling we went out on the frozen Hudson Bay to take photos. We also posed on an Inukshuk, pronounced ee-nook-shook. It’s an Inuit word when translated means “stone man that points the way.” Inukshuks are stone cairns that were erected by Inuit people at prominent locations throughout the barrens of Arctic Canada to serve as guideposts.

Afterwards, we had lunch and then it was back to Winnipeg for dinner at a steak house. I hope I will be able to fit into my clothes when I get home.

This was a terrific trip and I got to share it with my sister (my trusty and always game travel companion – except when it comes to eating strange food, climbing a muddy and buggy mountain to see a primate, or crawling into tiny spaces).
