The 240

My room

I love Cambodia. The people are very easy going and friendly – a lot friendlier than in Vietnam, and definitely friendlier than in China. They have a real island mentality – laid-back and playful. Don’t worry, it will get done, but I need to take a nap first. I think they are very pretty people as well. In China I’d think I was back in pizza-face USA – I have never seen so many Asian people with bad skin. Probably because they (like the US) eat genetically altered food and now fast food. There are quite a few chubby kids in my school. But similar to all of Asian counties – dental hygiene needs to be promoted. Perhaps I should play Muhammad Ali’s album from the 70s about how he fights Mr. Tooth Decay (yes, it does exist and I have a copy).

The hotel I am staying at is called The 240 Hotel. I really like it. There are only 10 rooms in the place and it is very clean and the staff is great. The rooms are tastefully decorated. There is no lift, so be prepared to go up short staircases. The lobby is so pleasant and filled with the fresh clean aroma of lemongrass. Breakfast is included at the café next door. They serve all organic food and have tables with rice growing in the middle. It is quite lovely and the breakfast consisted of fresh juice, coffee or tea, fruit, bread, and eggs (any style). You can order pancakes or French toast for an extra fee. I booked my trip through Expedia.com so I could get the discounted hotel rate. The flights from China, due to the holiday were double. My flight to Phnom Penh was $780 alone, but combined with my hotel, I paid a total of $867. So my hotel was only like $100 for 5 nights (each room is usually between $40-60 per night). So I think I got a great deal; the hotel is also centrally located.
