Lunch with Daun & Georgia at Njuguna'sNjuguna'sGiraffes at the Breakfast Table

The last day at Giraffe manor was a lot of fun. Veta got up really early to dress in a special outfit to feed the giraffes from our room. At 6am the giraffes come over to the Manor and knock on the guests’ windows for food. Veta, of course was up and waiting for them. She raced downstairs to place her jacket on a chair in the breakfast room. She wanted a prime location near a window so the giraffes could pop their heads in and eat with her. She was like a kid on Christmas morning. It was quite funny to watch her scurry around from the window to the balcony to feed them. I followed taking photos. I must have hundreds of them.

Around 7am we went down for breakfast. As advertised, the giraffes pop their heads in and the guests feed them. I have to admit; I am a tad over giraffes. I fed them a few times, but then went back to happily eating my breakfast between snapping photos of Veta with her tall blonde friends.

After breakfast, we went over to the gift shop to buy giraffe-themed items. Giles, the manager, was quite entertaining chatting away with all the guests. I asked him if gets any real crazies at the Manor. He laughed and said yes, but quickly added that Veta was rather tame compared to some of the wild visitors who come dressed in giraffe-print clothing and hats spouting every fact and morsel of knowledge about the tall blondes that they have in their giraffe-filled heads. Veta bought a lot of giraffe stuff and plans to order more online.

Around 10am, everyone must check out so the drivers arrive and then the procession of bags begins. We said good-bye to the staff and went on our merry way to see the orphaned elephants and the Sheldrick Center and then off to meet my friends Daun and Georgia for lunch at Njugunas. Although I am the only one who ate the nyama choma — guess grilled goat is not everyone’s favorite thing. It was great to see Daun and Georgia. We all had some good chuckles before it was time to say goodbye. We had to be at the airport around 3pm.

So sad to see this trip end…until next time.

Hi! I’m planning a trip like your safari trip and was wondering if I could contact you via e-mail for some tips. Trying to figure out the itinerary and tour operator.
